Welcome to KWK9 RESCUE
Well done Irene for yesterday's 10K in awful weather. We will update how much she raised in the next couple of days once we've added it all up - thank you to everyone who sponsored her.
The summer is nearly upon us again and KWK9 will need to get back in the swing of the local shows and fetes to raise more money.
If anyone would be interested in sparing us some of their time to man a stand on the odd weekend, no long term commitment needed, we would be delighted to hear from you.
The winners have been chosen from the stories and poems that were entered into our book competition:
Care of Dogs category winner is Eileen MacDonald
Poems Category winner Evelyn Larvin
Short story Category winner is Ann Mcleod
Mirren and Esme Buchanan aged 11 and 6 entered poems about their KWK9 rescue dog Frankie and our judge has decided to award two extra prizes for them.
Thankyou so much to everyone who entered, we laughed and also cried while reading the entries and the judge had a very difficult task deciding on the winners. We'll keep you up to date on the progress of the book and when it will be published! All prizes are being donated specifically for this competition and will not affect money given for the care of dogs.
(By submitting an entry you agreed to it being published in our fundraising book - your entry may still be used even if it doesn't win in it's category)
Every year, in the KW postcode area, many dogs are found as strays. These strays are the responsibility of the local authority for seven days, after which time their future is unsecure. KWK9 would like to be able to look after these dogs in foster care and hopefully find loving life long homes. KWK9 would also like to have the funds to have all dogs neutered to prevent further breeding.
