About us

We area charity located in Caithness that provides rehoming services for needy dogs in Caithness, North Sutherland, Orkney and other areas further afield. We are staffed fully by volunteers who dedicate much of their time to help rehome dogs and raise money by various fundraising events.

We don't have kennels so we care for our dogs in loving foster homes throughout the Caithness area. Potential new owners are welcome to visit a dog in it’s foster home by prior arrangement however we do require an application form to be completed prior to any visit being made, completing an application form does not commit you to a dog, so please head over and complete the form because we would love to hear from you.

We are always looking for new foster homes. We give every support and the only cost to fosterers is your time, love and patience. You will be rewarded with the best kind of warm cosy feeling when you see a scared and unhappy dog turn into a trusting, loving and happy soul ready to face the world and a wonderful life with new owners. Contact us if you think you might be able to help. Unfortunately, because we don’t usually know the history of our new dogs it is unlikely that we would be able to place a foster dog in a family with very small children but don’t let that put you off, there are lots of other ways you can help so please get in touch.

Helping paw

Sometimes we all need a hand to provide for our pets and families. If you need a little bit of support to look after your dog then our Helping Paw service might be able to help.

We can offer support with most things from food to microchipping or if you find yourself with an unexpected vet bill that you are unable to cover due to being on benefits or a low income, we may be able to assist. All of the applications are assessed by our Trustees when all relevant information has been provided. We do our best to assist as many dogs as possible but there is no guaranteed payment with an application and payment is never given upfront.

If you think that our Helping Paw service can help you then please click here and fill in the application form for a prompt response.

About the volunteers

We are a small group of volunteers who run KWK9 Rescue with help from dedicated foster carers, fundraisers and other helpers. Between us we have many years experience of working with dogs, owning our own dogs and other animals and other useful activities and occupations.

We are ably assisted by our foster carers. Some foster on a regular basis and other occasionally for specific dogs or in emergency situations.

We also rely heavily on a dedicated team of supporters who help on stalls at events and do some wonderful baking for those events.

KWK9 is a registered charity (SC041937)
