About us

KWK9 is a charity based in Caithness and is run solely by a team of dedicated volunteers. We help rehome dogs in need, predominately within Caithness,  Orkney and Sutherland but occasionally from further afield. We don’t have kennels, so all our dogs are cared for in loving foster homes whilst they await their forever home.

We were originally established to find homes for unclaimed stray dogs after their seven day time was up in the care of Highland Council. Over time people began to contact us directly when they could no longer care for their dog, whether it be from ill-heath, bereavement, or another change in circumstance.

Since 2010 we have found new homes for on average more than a hundred dogs each year. We’ve found homes for dog’s young and old, and of all sizes from Chihuahuas to Labradors.

Some dogs come to us physically injured. Other dogs come to us traumatised and abused, and take time and devotion to learn to trust again. One thing guaranteed is that all of our dogs go on to loving forever homes.
